SOUTH SUDAN
URGENT NEED
Grace Grace and her Grandmother
This is Grace, she is approx. 6 years old and suffers from tuberculosis of the spine. Life is difficult for this little girl; she lives with her grandmother because neither of her parents have the money to take care of her. She often gets overlooked by others due to her disability. On December 22nd, Grace and her grandmother met with Pastor James. They are so excited because we have found someone who is willing to help.
We found a hospital in Kenya, Africa that is willing to help her if we can get her to Kenya.
We need to fly Grace, her grandmother, and Pastor James from South Sudan to Kenya to receive treatment/surgery. Pastor James will accompany them to the hospital and interpret between the doctors and grandmother. Grace's admission date is February 14th, 2012.
Tammy will fly to Kenya to meet Grace, her grandmother and Pastor James at the airport and then travel together to the hospital to meet with the doctors to discuss Grace's treatment and follow-up care.
We need to raise money to cover her transportation from her remote village to the airport and to Kenya and back. Due to gas prices in South Sudan it can be very expensive to get her there and back.
We need approx. $3000 to cover the travel for Grace, her grandmother and Pastor James who will interpret for them at the hospital.
The total cost for Grace's to have surgery and care is approximately $3500. This includes her surgery, food and her mother's food as well so she can stay with her daughter. We will also buy her a bed and any needed equipment for when she returns home. There is a possibility that they will not be able to do surgery depending on her condition when she gets to the hospital but they will be able to treat her condition and work from there to help her.
Our goal is to raise $6500 to cover her expenses. As of January 26th we have raised the $6500 and met our goal. Thank you so much for your support for Grace.
We will be working towards helping Grace's grandmother with some chickens and a cow so she can have fresh eggs
and milk to help keep Grace healthy once she returns to the village after her treatment in Kenya.
